The results are in from the 2017 Safer Highland J Rock event held in Inverness on Wednesday 5 April.  For the third night in a row the Safer Highland events, sponsored by the Safer Highland Partnership and Police Scotland’s Choices for Life were performed to a sold out audience.

1st Place and the 2017 Inverness J Rock™ Champions:

Bridgend Primary School, Alness, Ross-shire

Changing Shoes!

Our story is based on the Cuban ballet dancer, Carlos Acosta. Born in 1973 to a poor family, Carlos was the youngest of eleven children. Afraid for his son’s future his father enrolled him into ballet school. Changing sports shoes for ballet pumps, Carlos discovered a passion for dance, proving that through hard work and determination anything is possible.

2nd Place

Hilton Primary School, Inverness, Inverness-shire

"Lost in a Good Book"

The world of school and academia can be a confusing place, especially, if you can't read. For Charley - life in the classroom is almost unbearable, how can she ever fit in? It's up to her parents to unlock the wonder of storytelling and show Charley that the key to escaping into a new adventure is only our imagination!

3rd Place

Ben Wyvis Primary School, Dingwall

Growing Our New School

Our school is 4 years old. We watched it being built. The grounds were bare, birds had gone. We encouraged wildlife into our gardens. Watching birds return and Rhea’s cat, Belle exploring our new school is continually exciting. One winter a lot of snow melted, and our gardens were flooded. But like the circle of life they’re once again, beautiful.

Attending this evening were an array of sponsors, local authority figures and invited special guests. Following the show quotes were obtained from the following guests:

“I think J Rock is fantastic I think as an event it gives the young people this feeling of worth, that experience of working in a team and it gives them some responsibility and the outcome is fantastic. It’s a great event; I think it gets better every year. We’ve been treated to a fantastic evening of entertainment tonight. I know there has to be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd but for me everyone is a winner not just those on stage but behind the scenes making the show come to life in terms of teachers, parents. Rock Challenge and J Rock are fantastic events and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is delighted to support them.”
