Drug & Alcohol Recovery Service

Specialist service providers in Highland were today renamed as a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service. A statement issued by the Head of Service said that "In line with the national policy of embedding recovery in a more visible way in local service provision and supporting a more positive message about the work that we do, the Service Improvement Group for Substance Misuse Services in Highland have taken the view that we should be clearer about who we are and what we do.
Key to this is the language that we use to describe the service overall and we have agreed that ‘Drug & Alcohol Recovery Service’ is much more reflective of our ethos and as such we are moving away from the existing term of ‘Substance Misuse Service’. This will sit alongside the recent introduction of a recovery outcomes tool, better reporting systems, the work to support embedding the National Quality Principles, service user engagement and mutual aid. We are passionate about raising the profile in a positive way and look forward to our continued partnership working with you all."
“Recovery from drug and alcohol use is an everyday reality in thousands of lives. Many pathways to recovery exist and recovered people are part of the solution. The aim and focus of all our work is recovery.”
